Letter from the PresidentDear Villagers, I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and had some time off of work to spend with family and friends. Just around the corner is the progressive dinner and then the holidays! The Progressive Dinner will be taking place on Saturday, December 2nd. This is a popular event and sells out every year! This year we have three exciting homes that will be hosting appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Thanks to the families who are hosting and to Kathy Brown for organizing! Hopefully you are one of the lucky ones who is able to attend and can join in on this fun holiday party! Also this month is the door decorating contest! This tradition always adds so much holiday cheer to our neighborhood. Thank you to Sally Zelonis for organizing, to those who are participating, and to everyone who helped pass out flyers. I can’t wait to see what is in store for this year! Check out January’s Village Voice to see pictures of the winners. A huge thanks to Sally Zelonis, Erika Singler, Todd Rottman, Dan Porzel, Bret Brewer, and Phil Martini for helping to deliver trees to houses. Thanks to everyone who passed out flyers and to those of you who ordered a tree. It is a fun tradition that helps make the Village even more festive during the holiday season! The VRA is also looking for a new editor for the Village Voice for 2018. This a volunteer position and Jackie Lamb has been the editor for the past year. If you’re looking to get involved in the VRA, the Village Voice Editor is a great way to give back to your community! If you’re interested in learning more about the position please contact Jackie. She is happy to answer any questions about the role and help with a smooth transition. Lastly, I am happy to announce that beginning in the New Year, Jamie Reynolds will be serving as our next president. Jamie has lived in the Village for the past three years and has been actively involved in the VRA. I am confident that the VRA is in great hands with Jamie and the new board members. Thank you for your continued support for the past two years. I’ve enjoyed serving as the VRA president, and I look forward to seeing you around town and at the meetings! Happy Holidays! Town Council Insights:The Town had our official grand opening for the new Town
Hall on November 15th. It
included some remarks from Mayor Haak, Congresswoman Susan Brook’s office, Fire
Chief VanGorder, CSO Architects, RL Turner (the general contractor), as well as
myself. It was a great opportunity to
tour the building and have a few provided treats. While the building is open anytime during
regular hours to wander through, I can’t promise the appetizers will be there.
