The Village Residents' Association was founded in 1996 by Mary Jane Phillippe and Jean Apple. The initial meeting took place with a group of eight individuals who resided in and loved the Village of Zionsville and were concerned with preserving a community and way of life that was precious to them.
After the association was formed and the public was notified, the first official public meeting was held. A group of about 20 Village residents attended and the Village Residents' Association was up and running!
Today, the membership of the VRA numbers about 125 and is growing. Meetings are held bi-monthly at the Sullivan Munce Museum at 225 W. Hawthorne Street. Meetings typically include presentations by speakers ranging from local community leaders to outside experts on topics like historic preservation or other issues. The meetings also offer a chance to meet your neighbors and find out what’s going on in the community. Click here if you would like to check out our meeting dates and speakers.
Other events include a fall picnic, participation in the Fall Festival parade, a holiday party as well as other activities.

The VRA offers opportunity for Village residents to get involved with their community and help make an impact on the decisions that affect their lives. Most of all, the VRA is still committed to the ideas it was founded upon…preserving what’s best about life here in our Village.
Check out “7 Great Reasons Why You need to Join the VRA” for more information, or attend our next meeting. If you’re not a member already and you live in the Village limits, we urge you to become a part of this great organization.
